I share some of the ideas I post on this blog with other groups of acquaintances. My views are not always well received. A longtime friend forwarded this feedback from another poster, who chose to remain anonymous. I’m sharing his points and my rebuttal here because it exemplifies the kind of shut-you-up mentality that prevails among people who fancy themselves belonging to the intellectual elite.
Al, why do you continue to waste your time with Graham.
There are some people, who no matter how intelligent they might seem to be, are attracted to conspiracy theories like insects to a "bug zapper".
I am pleased that I seem intelligent.
The first link below is a fascinating video by the Guardian trying to understand why some people are attracted to conspiracy theories.
I didn’t get the link, but this five minute video must be it. Let’s look at some of the words and phrases that appear repeatedly in the video as a prelude to the rest of his comments.
misinformation. “the truth.” Illusion of truth. Difficult to correct misconceptions once we accept them. Stem the tide of misinformation and conspiracy theories. Some people are sharing high-quality information. Conspiracies do sometimes occur but it’s important to realize that those are typically revealed by investigative reporters or whistleblowers and not by anonymous reddit or 4Chan users
So many of these conspiracy theories can be traced to a single crackpot source.
Crackpot is a pejorative. One must keep an open mind. Each source has to be evaluated on its own merits.
In this last example Graham has a link to a source called "Amy's Newsletter" that uses a source from the Australian doctor Dr. McLindon.
I suggested a reader take a look at sukwan.substack.com. I doubt that this anonymous critic did so. She posts a lot of meaty material. I can understand that one may not agree with it. However, to dismiss it as crackpot would be inappropriate. She might be wrong – we are all wrong at times – but she is not a crackpot.
Here is a link to a video by Dr. McLindon entitled Doubling of Miscarriage Rate to 48%. Once again, he could be wrong but you could not call him less than serious. It is not a crackpot.
I said there are several other indicators that spontaneous abortions are up and births are down. I did not name sources. There is a Lion’s Gate Hospital in Vancouver, Dr. Nagasi. There are reports of IVF clinics having a spectacular increase in the number of failures. I don’t have the links at hand, but it could be researched. At any rate I am not simply relying on a single source.
I have done several of my own videos and of course my blog. On the other hand, my anonymous debunker has not pointed to any intellectual products of his own. Why should he have any credibility at all?
The second link is a fact check by the Australian Broadcasting Company (ABC) in conjunction with a Melbourne university that totally discredits Dr. McLindon.
The fact checkers have a way of making it up. This debunker did not have a thing to say about the screenshot I had taken from the Australian Bureau of Statistics, shown below. He could not claim that was made up. It shows exactly what Amy Sukwan stated – live births down 72% year on year. October through December figures at the bottom are hard to read. They are 23,073, 18,186 and 6,659, respectively.
Also, I attached a pdf of a study published in the Journal of Medical Association (JAMA) that shows there is no link whatsoever between the covid vaccine and pregnancy problems.
I found no link. Assuming he is right, we have a situation in which two authoritative sources, the Journal of the American Medical Association and the Australian Bureau of Statistics, are at odds. I would first ask for a link to the JAMA study. When was it published? Our knowledge has been changing. Who were the authors? There are conflicts of interest.
Call me silly but I rather follow the advice of JAMA rather than Amy's Newsletter or a discredited Australian doctor.
Yes, I do call you silly to rely on only a single source. Anybody intelligent would keep an open mind and remain curious when authoritative sources are in conflict.
In fact there seems to be a huge increase in stillbirths in unvaccinated women which is discussed in the 3rd link.
I don’t have the link. I would ask for the source of the statistics and if there is a theory as to who unvaccinated women could be expected to experience more stillbirths. I would also look to international sources for comparisons.
Graham has continuously published garbage in his newsletter that the covid vaccine is more dangerous than the disease with a lot of this garbage being linked to the single discredited scientist Robert Malone.
This anonymous critic has certainly not read my newsletter. There are a vast number of scientists besides Robert Malone, although the authorities are working hard to discredit them all. Many belong to the Vaccine Safety Research Foundation and the Frontline Critical Care Coalition. My interlocutor cannot pretend it is a single renegade doctor. Malone has a very broad following.
This has real world consequences as there might some poor schmuck who might believe the garbage in Graham's newsletter.
Aw, the prejudice against us goyim sneaks in. God forbid that some Jews should look into what this misguided goy has to say.
Jews are prone to jump from the observation that the average Jew is smarter than the average goy to the conclusion that all Jews (viz, him) are smarter than all goyim (viz, me). This arrogant, misguided conceit has led to difficulties in the past. Incessant hammering on goy bogeymen such as Donald Trump and Alex Jones has awakened the sleepy goy electorate to the fact that there is genuine prejudice against us. Making us aware is never a wise move.
I recently devoted a column to my appreciation of smart Jews. And my contempt for the dumb ones. I would suggest making the attempt to be perceived as belonging to the first group. Show me some accomplishments. Publish something. Make a movie. And show me some respect.
Going back to Robert Malone, please note that among his strongest supporters are Steve Kirsch, Dr. Harvey Risch, Alex Berenson and Brett Weinstein. It is three times wrong to call out Malone as a “single, discredited (goy) scientist”? He is not alone, not discredited, and an eminent doctor more than just a scientist. And not being Jewish should have no bearing on his credibility.
I had a co-worker and friend of almost 20 years who died from covid because he was naive enough to believe this garbage and did not get vaccinated.
An anecdote. I’ll see your anecdote and raise you Wayne Allyn Root.
You might have noticed that I removed Graham's name from the distribution.
Brave of you to avoid rebuttal.
You are welcome to use any of this information in response to Graham but please keep my name out of it.
I do not think I can be civil if I respond to this asshole.
People do not shut you up because you are wrong, but because they fear you might be right.
Perhaps you might think I am being harsh in calling Graham an asshole but I believe anyone who publishes a newsletter for circulation has a duty to get their facts straight when it comes to life and death decisions.
I’m not worried. I know this type of detractor, and were I not a gentleman I’d use the same words to describe him.
Al, please take my name off any response to Graham.
You can run but you can’t hide. I don’t know who you are, but it doesn’t matter. I know your type pretty well. Book burners. Cancel culture.
Turning to the war, I get this news about Hola Prystan.
Sadly, I only get hearsay about Hola Prystan.
Up until a few days ago, the report was the sound of rockets, missiles, and artillery flying overhead in both directions. For a couple of weeks, the stores have been closed to all but soldiers (but if you have enough money the back door was open to shoppers). The market is closed. Many people have left Hola Prystan, and some report being harrassed as they left Hola Prystan. I have not heard of any males between 18 -60 leaving town, just women. The common destination is Poland via Russia to Belarus, then on into Poland.
My Brother-in-Law and his family remain, their car is in hiding out of fear the Russians will steal it. Empty houses are being broken into and the contents are stolen by the Russians. My Mother-in-Law remains, she tells us she will not leave, her wonderful neighbors did, they left her the house keys. She is acting as a good steward, feeding the animals, making the place look lived in, harvesting the produce, the eggs and etc. Often making sure other people have food.
It is reported to me that prior to gas heating most people had furnaces. Electric is not always available, the gas is not available, so the furnaces are out of storage, made safe, and back into use. The storage of wood and coal is a new phenomenon but my Brother-in-Law is meeting the needs. As you know in Ukraine everyone knows someone and those networks are very much in play as a parallel economy.
Since Thursday night my Mother-in-Law reports an eery silence as there are no rockets or artillery sounds so no one appears to be shooting any and she has not heard the sounds of automatic weapons fire either. However, an occasional rifle shot is heard. Oddly, she did not know until Saturday that Kherson had fallen until my Brother-in-Law told her. She still sees Russians and there are checkpoints last I heard.
That’s the news from Lake WeBeGone, where we are lucky to live in Kyiv, where the only hardship at the moment is intermittent electricity.
That was Bob Homans' deal. I don't know.
To me, the fact that your critic chose to remain anonymous is an indicator that one should not take them so seriously. I rate anonymous critics right up there with the ever-popular anonymous sources.
