Great article, thank you Graham.

If I may be so picky and annoying, I might suggest (edits in CAPS) "Advertising and the popular culture addressed (OR PERHAPS ENGENDERED) a woman’s SHORT TERM needs and desires, ignoring HER LONG TERM ONES." I might argue one reason young women are so unhappy is related to the confusing messages they get from their families and society. I might also argue women's long term needs and desires actually match up pretty well with those of society.
