We talked to the guys at the guard post. There was no small-arms fire. They say it was grad rockets. https://www.military-today.com/artillery/grad.htm

7:30 AM. We hear what I now assume is artillery from the same quadrant. More civilians being slaughtered?

I really enjoyed your article about the language issue. For me, it has been interesting living in Switzerland and seeing how the speakers of 4 official languages have been able to coexist. I think the success of the Swiss model lies in the fact that the cantons united against a common enemy when they first formed their confederation and they were able to retain a good deal of autonomy (at least until 2020, that is). Doesn't look like the Ukrainian and Russian speakers in Ukraine share the same kinds of sentiments. I really hope they will be able to figure out a solution.

Wishing the best for you and your family.

Thanks. VDARE doesn't accept comments. I'll probably post some version here later on so you can share your insights more widely.

It has been picked up by the Unz Review which does accept comments. Please put your comments there, where they will have wider readership.

I can hear the Generals now - running out of cruise missiles supplies to be used on Ukraine. They have no idea how to build more unless their supply chain is better than most. They must keep certain numbers in reserve for what might happen if NATO gets involved. Not fun for those Generals.

They have scaled back. I'm hearing distant explosions this morning. The last two days it has stopped about noon. They may be economizing.

Hi Graham, your posts are invaluable and we really appreciate that you're taking the time to keep us updated. Regarding the shopping center attack, the blogger Conservative Treehouse has a post about this with photos that appear to show Ukrainian military equipment parked at the mall prior to the attack. He claims that they used it to shell Russian positions while trying to evade radar signature targeting (since the mall had a heat signature that would confuse such systems). Can't verify it, but there are other opinions out there...here is the link if you're interested: https://theconservativetreehouse.com/blog/2022/03/21/about-that-russia-attacking-a-shopping-center-story/

The Russians have a boy-who-cried-wolf problem. They lie so often than even when there may be some substance to their claims, nobody wants to pay attention.
