“Don’t allow the EU to dictate our policies, flood us with immigrants, or use our hard-won . . .”

From your keyboard to God’s ((and whoever leads Ukraine’s$ eyes.

I've got grandkids who'll be 3 this month. I guess I need to get reading.

Well stated, Graham. I fear that it must "run to failure".

I rode Cisco and Oracle down in 2000. They are still here, but the markets repriced them rather severely. See you in a year.

Elon Musk always has a lot to say about these things since he will be running everything within 15 to 20 years, certainly on Mars. “ the actions of the West today are indistinguishable from suicide.”

Intelligence is a scarce and highly valuable commodity for humans, but within the next 10 years, we will have artificial Superintelligence, making all the decisions anyway. I don’t think human evolution will have a lick spit to do with anything about the future. The AI will quickly take It’s natural leadership. At that point, worrying about human evolution is about as meaningful as worrying about squirrel evolution.

Just as a person chooses to believe in God simply because without such a belief, life is meaningless, I choose to believe in evolution.

And I guarantee most Americans do not agree with Ben Franklin, that “if you trade freedom for Security You’ll end up with neither.” The patriot act is proof that if the deep state tweaks things a little bit people will happily give up freedom for false security.

All the answers. That’s why Palantir stock is up 382% in the last 12 months.

A lot of smart people think it is overvalued. Peter Thiel has a lot of hype appeal. I'm reserving judgment. I remember a similarly spectacular ride up in 1999, and ride down in 2000. Our exchange today will be visible for a long time. Let's revisit it in a year.

And pets.com wasn’t started in the basement of the CIA after $21 trillion, disappeared from the DOD and HUD budgets. I seriously doubt the deep state will allow Palantir to fail.

And people that bought Amazon in 2000 are also doing OK

Joel W. Hay, PhD's avatar

I don’t think the AI revolution is anything like pets.com . It’s definitely for real.

God might save us. Evolution won’t. We evolve slowly every 20 years. Machine intelligence evolves every 20 nanoseconds.

What would machine intelligence, vastly capable as it is, recommend that Trump do about crime in the United States? How can it be enlisted in the fight to control said crime? What answer does it have as to what we do with the criminals we identify?

Provocative and interesting, Graham. Your thesis surely seems well founded.

Those of us left here in America (midwit and above level) pray that this constant teetering at the edge can be retraced . . . yet.

However, if the libnuts and their Soros-backed handlers progress much more in NY and Kali-fornica we in outback America will stand as islanders in a vice as Ukraine today.

There really must be "rules" to vote and hold office to implicitly remove the tardos, fools, and easily led and "rules" to enter here filtering for the same. There needs to be law-- that is actually enforced; punishment that is quick and sure. America's resurrection could generate more of a true Republic as the founding fathers envisioned as opposed to this last 250 years.

We of the Silent Generation don't have that much future about which to be concerned. My young family is another matter. Ukraine is a real nation, a people. Like the United States was when I grew up. In the US it collapsed with feminism, cultural marxism, the civil rights stuff and so on. The US was wholly alien twenty years ago when I pulled up stakes.

My kids feel the unity of their people. Narod in Ukrainian. It is vastly important. Courtesy, mutual respect, mutual support and such.

Won't Ukraine go the way ot western Europe and import hordes of non-whites? They will have to if they join the EU. Also, feminism. Do you have race and sex quotas yet?

Graham Seibert's avatar

That is exactly the danger. Fortunately, the countries immediately to our west are all opposed to the EU agenda. Hungary, Slovakia, Romania and the Baltics may not be agreed on supporting Ukraine, but none of them want to be awash with immigrants or gender benders. And... western Europe is belatedly waking up. Time is on our side.
