Every time I try to get out they DRAG ME BACK IN!!!!

The phone call that got Mr. Trump impeached COULD have made him a friend to Ukraine for life. Ukraine should at the very least have never gotten involved in supporting either candidate. Not smart. And like stream says, President Trump NEVER FORGETS.

I consider Mr. Zelenski to be a tragic figure. The West holds out the carrot of support, and there were others who famously told him about the stick if he tried to make good on his election promise to make peace with the Russians.

Oxsana maybe thinks he's not doing a great job at managing the war. Sure, I also think Zaluzhni should have been allowed to make the battlefield decisions. A fighting retreat to more defendable positions would have saved a lot of lives and cost the enemy more dearly. Make them think they've got you on the run, and then ATTACK! It's a tactic that was long used by the Red Army. Frankly, I don't know WHO was in charge, but I have my doubts that it was Zelensky.

And man, I thought the booms were never gonna stop last night. First time I actually have been awakened by the noise, even when the war started 3 years ago.

You wanna know what's worrying me at this time? What are our friends and neighbors going to think about us Amis after the betrayal? Will we be persona non grata in the country we've decided to call home? And if you think Trump is a betrayer, wait'll JD gets into office, (and I actually DO believe he'll have a good shot).

Oh well, at least we can still do random acts of kindness. When you get your license and see a soldier walking, offer him a ride. Attend funerals to show support to the families of those not coming back. Donate blood. I won't talk about our donations and gifts to some fellows heading for the front lines, but you'll feel good about it. There's always some collection in the various chats on Telegram for your local area. And never look down on a drunk staggering down the street with his beat-up camouflages. We have no idea what hell that man has endured.

God Bless!

Rags to riches stories. Unlike Trump, who had a big head start. The vibes these people give off are of common folk. Not like, say, Mitt Romney or Obama.

Trump holds a grudge for a long time, Zelenskyy supported his opponent, and it was a bitterly-fought race. That's part of it. Another part is that he only has regard for rich people, no matter how they made their money. And another part is that he has longstanding ties to Russian Mafia/nomenklatura types - they bailed him out from bankruptcy a number of times - and that might be useful kompromat, Russiagate was 90% bullshit, and the Steele dossier was equally fake. I voted for him solely on the border issue - against Biden/Harris' deliberate flouting of the immigration laws, which created tons of problems - and continues to create tons of problems here in the US. I mention a few of these things in my post, here: https://streamfortyseven.substack.com/p/jakes-conclusion-that-the-us-government Trump's Ukraine policy is catching well-deserved hell from conservative Republicans in Congress, as it should. Neither Trump nor Biden stand on any real principles, so far as I can tell, and Harris would have been a puppet - although whose I am unsure. American national politics are a disaster, it's tough to find anyone to support. The one guy I would have enthusiastically supported - John Bolton - did not run - and if he had, he probably would not have been elected - he's not a BS artist or a con man. Thanks! Don't always agree 100%, but your posts are always insightful and your links worth a look.

With a couple of exceptions like Bessent, Trump has not chosen rich people for his administration. The appeal of Vance, Hegseth, Bongino and Gabbard, to name four, is that they are neither rich nor establishment.

And I thought that Vance and Hegseth would be great - until I heard their views on Ukraine. Perhaps their public statements are made in order to show loyalty to Trump, who demands nearly an absolute Führer-Prinzip degree of loyalty from his underlings - but Vance can't be fired, he can just get the Mike Pence treatment. As to Gabbard, at one point I thought she'd be good, but I learned a few things which made me reserve judgment. I doubt if I would have supported her for President, although I was very much in favor of Vance and Hegseth. Certainly the National Security establishment needs to be turned upside down and shaken hard, too much deadwood, too much defensive over- and mis-classification, too much groupthink, so that they're notorious for "intelligence failures". The reward for an "intelligence failure" should be the same as running a ship onto a sandbar - or into a freighter - it should be a career-ender, not grounds for promotion. But loyalty to a President as Supreme Leader - as Theodore Roosevelt wrote, in an editorial for the Kansas City Star - is totally un-American: "The President is merely the most important among a large number of public servants. He should be supported or opposed exactly to the degree which is warranted by his good conduct or bad conduct, his efficiency or inefficiency in rendering loyal, able, and disinterested service to the Nation as a whole. Therefore it is absolutely necessary that there should be full liberty to tell the truth about his acts, and this means that it is exactly necessary to blame him when he does wrong as to praise him when he does right. Any other attitude in an American citizen is both base and servile. To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public. Nothing but the truth should be spoken about him or any one else. But it is even more important to tell the truth, pleasant or unpleasant, about him than about any one else." — The Kansas City Star, 7 May 1918

Tulsi has personal net worth of under $1 million - but her husband has between $55 to $125 million - https://www.thestreet.com/personalities/tulsi-gabbard-net-worth, JD Vance came from poverty, but has managed to amass about $10 million. Pete Hegseth and his wife have about $3 million -https://www.thestreet.com/personalities/pete-hegseth-net-worth Dan Bongino is the rich one - $150 million - https://www.celebritynetworth.com/richest-politicians/republicans/dan-bongino-net-worth/ - but Bessent has the most, at $521 million - https://www.thestreet.com/personalities/scott-bessent-net-worth. Rich starts to kick in at about $30 million - at 4% interest, that's an income of about $1.2 million per year. My bet is that Bessent is actually worth more than Trump....
