I got an education in short selling twenty five or thirty years ago. I appeared on Radio Wall Street with a then-young Marc Cohodes. He was polite. I was wrong. Speech recognition company Lernout and Hauspie was engaged in fraudulent practices. Their software worked, but their accounting was bogus. Marc helped me make a bit of money back by shorting them.
Now it is pharmaceuticals. I love blogger QTR. I was long on gold and silver far before I started reading QTR, and discovered small modular reactors before he did. That put me in a position to appreciate his writing on both topics, and to trust him on others.
His post today addresses the corruption, the regulatory capture throughout the pharmaceuticals industry. He has shorted, and continues to profitably short the sector. With RFK, the wheels are coming off. The corruption and conflict of interest is becoming evident. And there is money to be made.
I’m content with my slow but not whatsoever risky positions in precious metals, and my risky but so far successful bets on the resurgence of nuclear. Though I don’t do short selling, I’ll tell you, my readers, that it can be among the most lucrative of all strategies if you do it right. You might do well to tune in to Quoth the Raven.
As an aside, I recently did an article entitled "Philo- or Antisemitic". Nobody had to tell me Marc was Jewish, but as confirmation I remember noting when visiting Vilnius six years ago that their synagogue was made possible by a donation from a guy named Cohodes.
The guys who control the art market, in particular the founders of Masterworks.com, appear very Jewish. The art critics who promoted Kooning and Pollock, Rosenberg and Greenberg, just might have been Jewish.
To repeat the conclusion of my article above, Jews are a force of nature. Whatever they choose to do, they will have an impact. They often do things that deserve our support and admiration. And there is money to be made betting alongside them.

As a follow-on, I have just wasted an hour listening to a couple of smart, sarcastic guys - Chris Irons and Andy Schechtman. I've used Miles Franklin for investments since it was run by Andy's father David. Chris (Quoth the Raven) sent me his blog for free for several months before I had to concede he was great and I subscribed, just to support him.
They talk about education, macroeconomics, Trump, the media -- everything. I love it all.
I'm only guessing that these guys are Jewish. In any case, it is the kind of thinking that I love. Here's the link.
