Eddie bicycled to take a look at the crater in our neighborhood. About as wide as his outstretched arms. The masonry house behind the fence it it remains intact. The wood frame house across the street was blown in a bit.

My take is that it was a KH101 or Iskander cruise missile. A Shaheed warhead would not have left such a big crater and there would have been PPO (anti-aircraft/anti-drone) machine gun fire. The missile was probably hit by PPO or thrown off-target by electronic countermeasures. They would not target our neighborhood.

Attacks went on all night on the 16th-17th. Shaheeds were back, but the greatest damage was done by larger missiles. Numbers killed are uncertain, but somewhere in the middle teens in Kyiv alone.

It has long been obvious that this is terror, pure and simple. Russia's claim that there were legitimate military targets is totally hollow.

Both the House and Senate supposedly have majority support for sanctions. Why haven't they acted? They need to force Trump's hand.

If I could figure out a way to use my research skills to help Ukraine with rocketry, and the like, I'd do so. Currently I'm sending $30 per month to the Furious Birds people -https://zlyizbir.org.ua/en/

Very sensible analysis. I share it.

But I never had any expectations as for Trump helping Ukraine against the butcher of Moscow.

Trump shows more and more his disinterest for Ukraine.

He just doesn't care, he wanted a quick solution, for his own personal glory, was ready to implement a profoundly unjust "peace" for the Ukrainian people.

Putin keeps him in his palm, we don't know why but that's what everyone thinks.

For the collapse of his army (and his murderous regime), I would like to believe that it's inevitable. That's the best thing that could happen.

I think Trump has been compromised by the Russians, probably dating back to the 1980s when they bailed out his bankrupt casinos in Atlantic City. They probably have all kinds of stuff on him going back decades. In any case, you’re absolutely right about the inevitable collapse of the Russian war effort. It’s all about motivation and the Ukrainians have that in spades. Underdogs can win against superior forces. Just ask the 300 Spartans or the Viet cong or the Taliban. Or you could even ask the American continental army from 250 years ago fighting the largest empire in the world.

I've long since given up trying to figure out what President Trump will do. I'm not sure even he knows. President Zelensky claims that all spare US military resources will be sent to support Israel, and he may very well be right, as apparently no further support will go to Ukraine. This leaves us in the unenviable position of depending upon the EU/NATO, two more feckless and incompetent organizations you will not find. In the end, all they do is blather and bloviate while collecting large paychecks.

As you have rightly pointed out in the past, Graham, it is unfortunate that Ukraine has to depend upon, and even submit herself to the technocrat liberals of the EU. We instead are relying upon the common folk of Ukraine and their own good sense.

In the end, Ukraine's fate is in the hands of her own people, and a braver group you will not find on the planet.

Concur with Mr Hay - "Putin is psychotic and delusional, he doesn't do the internet thing, he only listens to his incompetent and crooked advisors who shamelessly feed his delusions -and have done so from the outset when they told him, that yes, of course Ukraine could be conquered in three days - which is why the tank crews had three days of food and their dress uniforms with them, for the victory parade in Kiev... Trump is stupid, greedy, and hopelessly corrupt - but he is very cunning, which is why he has allowed himself to be catfished by Putin, chasing after the illusory "business deals" kept just out of reach by Putin, just like the fake mouse on the end of a fishing line. And Trump is stupid enough to never figure out the game - and hasn't for the last 15 years. So we have two delusional and psychotic leaders playing a game with each other, and it will continue until the incompetence and corruption destroys both governments.

Trump has been problematic/notorious for a long time, he's had dubious ties and got his wealth by dubious means and rather quickly, by sharp dealing, and by corrupt government. Trump is enough of a polarizing figure that it's hard to find detailed reporting on him that hasn't got some sort of bias behind it, that's the trouble with journalism today, too much opinion stuck in the reportage.

Trump is big on "trade with Russia" because he thinks he has the potential to make a lot of money there - there's a long history of that - https://www.americanprogress.org/article/cracking-the-shell/ - and he wants to keep Putin on side, because the only way Trump can get any money is with Putin on side - he's a bit like Putin's stable of oligarchs in that regard. Putin used the nuclear threat to condition and limit Biden's response, Putin uses the promise of riches to control Trump, and while Trump may be fooled by Putin into thinking he's a friend, Putin isn't and never has been... Trump is just another useful idiot." https://streamfortyseven.substack.com/p/my-final-analysis-on-trump-vs-putin
