One thing those gun are good at hitting other guns. That might reduce the damage the Russians are doing by firing at nonsensical targets. Longer range guns are good if the Russian guns are shorter range.

what would be even more fascinating would be a detailed account of how peace negotiations are going. what are the sticking points etc.
