Thank you for keeping us informed and introducing us to Bredesen. A concerning topic since I’m starting to feel the beginnings of cognitive decline at age 69. Here’s one of many links on Bredesen. I’ll continue to explore more on him. Your readers can also do the same. This article was a kick in the pants to take charge of our health, not simply rely on taking orders from doctors.

Kind of you to care for her.

I try to convince Oksana that she is living in a dream world, imagining that I will not decline as I age. So far, so good, but the signs it will not last are all around us, starting with her parents.

At 82 I feel my mind is still being challenged and used. I worry much more over physical decline that seems to accelerate. No matter how I try, I am not walking a 1/2 mile faster, each month it seems to slow perceptibly. Trying to honk does drain me more. OTOH, I can walk that far without needing to stop and back after recovering from cancer I had to stop periodically. My doc simply says we slow down with age. I'm not particularity happy about that. I suspect my COPD enters into the picture as well but all I can do is stall its progress.

OTOH, my ex is confined to a bed in a nursing home and I see her declining mentally before my eyes. That place is simply damaging to the soul if you are bed ridden. Reading and TV are her activities and I take her magazines that she says she reads. I can rarely believe her now in that I suspect she knows her decline and isn't happy about it. Watching her struggle with memory is hard and once she leaves the present will be tragic.
