I think they (meaning the Democratic political class) are after Donald Trump. They want to put him in jail so he is no threat any more. At the same time, I think Trump is guilty of all the crimes for which he has been indicted and for which he is going on trial. It's clear to me, and I suspected it for a long time, that Trump inflated his assets for gain and reduced his assets to reduce his taxes. And, yes, it is fraud and fraud should be punishable in the court of law.

As a caveat, I want to also say that I despise Trump. I think he's a buffoon and I can't image that anyone could possibly take him seriously. He's been a joke for at least 40 years. It's my opinion that he is a condo salesman and he would say anything to anyone to sell a condo. He's a crook and he behaves like a bully.

On the other hand, many of the candidates running for President are equally disgusting, left and right. Gavin Newsom is an ambitious twit. Joe Biden is past it. I so like Nikki Haley and Ramaswamy has some interesting things to say, except his opinion about the war in Ukraine. I also like Robert F. Kennedy, Jr, except his opinion about global warming and the war in Ukraine. If only we didn't have to vote for a person and could just express our vote for positions. No to the phony global warming cabal. Yes to the war in Ukraine. Yes to protect Taiwan. No to vaccines and Covid lies.

Here in the USA, they are trying to convince soldiers kicked-out of service for refusing the covid shot to come back. I guess recruitment is not going well....so now they'll accept those that dared to defy the covid shot mandate. Also, the Air Force has raised the maximum age to of a new recruit to 42.

Klees notes that we will be lucky to survive a Trump presidency- maybe nuclear war, untold harm to the environment, civil rights, civil discourse, well-being of the country and its people. (via look inside on Amazon). Well we did survive with none of that happening, except civil discourse gone even further downhill - Biden's red speech - always extremist MAGA far right Republicans. And of course, his re-election would destroy the nation. A lot of fear related to one person who, if fact, was even more careful to obey the law compared to Biden who openly defied the law awaiting a delayed court judgement. What I see is Klees, along with many others, can't abide any opposition to their progressive worldview.

Lots of contradictions. They are pigs. Orwell saw through them in Animal Farm. Here's a teaser - likely first paragraph.

You can't solve an equation if you leave out important variables. Nowhere in this book are there uses of these words or references to:

Evolution. Human biodiversity. Charles Darwin.

Intelligence. IQ. Cognitive ability.

Technological progress. Increasing complexity of society. Technology is mentioned for teaching, but not as subject matter.

Fertility. Malthus. Contraception.

The Industrial Revolution – improved public health. Decreased child mortality.

Coercion. Compel.

If the electoral system is generally fair, the politicians chosen will reflect the wisdom of the people who vote.

In modern society, individuals, including myself, have no choice but to rely on information when making political decisions. Therefore, we need to first suspect that this information is a lie, although it may be troublesome, and we need to check for any contradictions ourselves.

The problem is that in modern society, people who vote are influenced by the information they receive, but many people do not realize whether the information is true or false. Many people vote only because they think the person chosen is interesting. Aren't those who doubt it and investigate it a minority?

Therefore, when it comes to vaccines, BillGates has assisted information companies, given financial aid to medical journals, and provided aid to the WHO.

Graham, Due to your time overseas (when was the last time you were in the US?) I think you are losing touch with what is happening in the US. Three years later, there is still no evidence of any kind of rampant voter fraud in the 2020 election. Donald Trump has committed many crimes, especially those dealing with classified documents and election interference in GA. People are tired of waiting so long for justice to be served to Trump, not any made up voter shenanigans. I think the evidence in both cases in clear and convincing that Trump has committed crimes. Quite a number of independent Grand Jury members found the evidence sufficient to refer charges to a trial.

On the other hand, the "impeachment investigation" being held by the House has yet to turn up any evidence of Biden corruption. Show me the details. Has Biden lived an extravagant lifestyle way above his means? Can you point at "secret" deals to increase his power and influence? Does he have enemies that he has forced to their knees? Has he advocated for policies that will enrich him and his family? Inquiring minds are curious about your sources.

Warren, I follow the news in the US pretty closely. I think of myself as objective. You think of yourself as objective. Our views diverge so widely that I doubt there would ever be a reconciliation.

Here's three quick litmus tests:

Was the CDC right to call the Covid shots "safe and effective?"

Did the FBI conceal evidence about January 6?

Did the FBI ignore malfeasance by Hunter Biden?

We have both seen tons of evidence and I am sure we disagree. Going further would be pointless. Sorry, I can't show you anything that you haven't already had the opportunity to see. We can both just watch as things unravel.

I find that you consistently make an argument and then fail to provide evidence to support it when asked. Lessens the impact of your argument significantly.

Warren, it isn't clear what you want. I have uploaded this post in Word format. I converted it into table format, one cell per paragraph, with an empty cell to the right for comments. If you will download it and enter comments and links paragraph by paragraph, I'll post it and probably respond. Let's both provide links to support our arguments.

I made specific references to the phrases I disagreed with. Not sure what a litmus test does to counter my comments. Again, my point is that you provide assertions (Biden is corrupt, there was rampant voter fraud, indicting Trump is a witch hunt), but then when specifically asked to provide evidence, either ignore the specificity of the request or use a diversion technique (proposing a litmus test) to avoid responding directly to the request for evidence. Seen the same MO from you a number of times.

"no evidence of any kind of rampant voter fraud in the 2020 election" - The qualifier "rampant" may be operative. A small number of fraudulent ballots in selected places can cause the electoral vote to swing. There are reported anomalies in multiple places that suggest fraud. So far, no non-partisan investigation has been done and courts have refused to hear evidence deeming technical reasons to dismiss challenges. Hence widespread doubts about the election. At best we can hope that 2024 has fewer anomalies. I fear that cheating will become standard by both parties awaiting legislation to tighten voting. By now both parties understand phantom voters, ballot creation/misuse along with harvesting and drop boxes. It takes minor effort to cheat so it becomes the standard. Are the parties willing to engage?

Bonjour Graham,

Cordialement :

Barbara

Barbara - I think you need to re calibrate your concept of "extreme-right." It is moving towards the center. The left has had quite a while in power and the electorate is disappointed in them. I'm describing what I see. The common people do not feel they benefit from the policies of the EU or the US. I largely agree with them.

It will be better for Ukraine if I am wrong. I would like to see us continue to get support from the EU and the US. I think, however, that sentiment is shifting against us.

I suspect you will agree with Prof. Klees in the book I am reviewing. Please, read it and comment on my review. One of the things I most prize is our freedom to disagree with one another on this platform.

The extreme left equates anything to the right of them as far right. I assume that if we are looking at a political spectrum of an arbitrary number like 100, the extreme left is about 5% of the population. Anything to the right of them is far right. There is no middle from the extreme lefty position. That's my take. Georgia Meloni of Italy from my perspective is a right leaning moderate, but the left calls her a far right fascist.
