Amazon does not like people who challenge the narrative. They have been sitting on the review of Peacy Keenan's Domestic Terrorist - the one I posted here – for a week already. They will never tell me why they don't like it, but one can certainly guess. It is the thrust of the book, nothing to do with the way I wrote the review. And, to remind us peons who has the power.
It works in odd ways. My longtime friend JoAnne, in a comment to my recent post Wise Men Get It Wrong, called my attention to a phenomenon called passport bros. It sounded like men going overseas to look for marriage. Her link piqued my curiosity. Although none of the text indicated this was an African American thing, each of the faces shown suggested it was. A disconnect. Moreover, bros is a term most frequently found in the 'hood.
Searches on YouTube and Rumble showed the same tendency. I went to Amazon to see what they had. The top book in the presentation (not today -though – your results may vary) was by a guy named Yesh Yonas. Clearly a bro., writing about bedding rather than wedding the ladies. His focus is Brazil, a country in which the natives are quite open to that sort of thing. As I report in this movie, the young lass on the left at 2:17 into this video of my anthropology trip to Brazil was quite interested.
I didn't see any books for men interested in raising families, but one at least seemed a little closer to home. Besides that, it was only 99¢. How could I lose? The intended audience appears to be slightly older guys tired of getting a raw deal from feminists back home. I could identify with that. I bought it and wrote this review.
Not wishing to trigger the attack dogs of political correctness, I made my wording carefully circumspect. Success! Amazon posted it in a matter of hours. As Peachy continues to languish. If this persists for another week I'll whack the Peachy piece down to about three words, "I like it" and try again.

The kids are mentally back to school. Eddie and Zoriana both got new desk lamps to aid their studying. Eddie peppers me with math and history questions all the time. I'm glad for the interest and the conversation, though I wish he would show a little more initiative in looking things up instead of interrupting me.
He asked me how to trisect an angle. I gave him the answer I had learned in school – there is a classical proof to the effect that it can't be done. Not so fast! YouTube shows how it can be done - almost. His school expected an answer, so this is good enough for me.
He asked me if there is a way to find the number the square of which is one hundred factorial. He said a kid in his class had an answer. This time I'm pretty sure there is no easy answer. If he could find an integer square root of 100! he should be able to find one for 5!. Which would be 2*sqrt(2*3*5). Obviously not an integer – no easy way to express it. I think the other kid is wrong.
And something humorous. He interrupted my reading a bedtime story to Zoriana and Marianna to ask a question about the Goons. The girls and I sang the chorus of "Little Bunny Foo-Foo," which ends with a line about turning Foo Foo into a goon, and I asked him to wait until we were done.
It turns out he had a legitimate question. It concerned the migration period, also known as the dark ages, when tribes migrated throughout Europe. One of those tribes was led by a fellow named Attila the Hun. Аттіла гун. H in Ukrainian is the same as G. Hence Attila the Goon. You readers from Castro School will remember Billy Husa? It's Ukrainian for Billy Goose.
That's the news from Lake WeBeGone, where the grown-ups are savoring entire days to themselves. My task is to wrap up a couple of book reviews.

The Peachy review is finally up. The absolute last of 51 reviews even though it is certainly the meatiest. If it is still at the bottom next time I look, I'll change the star rating from 5 to 4. There are only two of those - it will have to be close to the top.
If any of you want to give it a nudge, you can like it here.
