I am among the carbon copied people in two email groups. Eighty-some Ukrainians, predominantly diaspora, and twenty or so mostly liberal people of my generation.
An amazing thing has happened. I have zero (0.00%) response to the email that I sent them, below, about an interview shedding light on the Carlson-Putin interview. Why would normally opinionated people not respond?
I think it is because Shannon Joy, and especially her interviewee Sasha Latypova, cannot be pigeonholed in any convenient way. In the course of the interview, they offer critical observations about everyone: Tucker, Putin, the GOP, Biden and the Deep State, and Ukraine. As Latypova wryly notes, the only person to come out of the affair smelling like a rose is Elon Musk. And she strongly suspects that he orchestrated the interview with that in mind.
You see my invitation at the bottom. These ladies offer reasoned observations to offend almost any fixed position. Now why is that so? I think it is in our nature to apply a good-bad dichotomy to any situation, and these women aren't doing that. They are trying to figure out what's happening. Here's what I wrote:
Here is a take on the Tucker/Putin interview worth listening to.
It is in two parts. The first 50 minutes are the Tucker interview, the last hour about the US government's head-in-the-sand posture about Covid 19. Both Democrats and GOP.
Sasha Latypova has been one of the most thoughtful contributors to the Covid discussion. She is a highly trained scientist with many original insights. Go to her Substack here to listen to the interview, but take time to peruse her posts over the past months. She is a gem.
Turns out she is from Zaporizhia – 150 miles down the Dnipro River, close to where the Russians blew up the big dam. Her family has long been involved with Motor Sich, though she does not call it by name. She worked as a translator in Kyiv until the mid 90s when she immigrated to the US.
Some of you passionately love Ukraine but at the same time still believe Biden, the CDC, the FDA et al with regard to the mRNA injectable products. Means you will strongly embrace this highly intelligent woman on the one hand and feel like rejecting her on the other. Cognitive dissonance. Look forward to it.
There are many opinions to love and an equal number to question. Questioning is good for our brains.
Will I have any more luck spurring a discussion on this Substack? I would like to think so. Please offer comments on what they say that is new or unusual (the easy part – quite a bit) and what you like and don't like.
That's the news from Lake WeBeGone, where the strong man is putting together a PowerPoint on investing vs. speculating in these turbulent times, and how to teach my son about money, to be delivered to a Toastmasters meeting Saturday.
Dividing people by issue is how the Empire wins (just like the Roman, Persian, British, American, Russian, Chinese and all long-lasting empires have divided and conquered their ways to sustain power). Childrens Health Defense Fund health intellectuals who have bravely challenged the Covid plandemic in many valuable ways have twisted into knots fighting over Israel/Gaza and have had several member resignations over that issue. Jeff Childers, the Coffee & Covid guy who is solid red pill on Covid and is softly pro-Israeli is rabidly anti-Ukranian and talks like a Putin mouthpiece on that issue. Many who are red pilled on Covid don't buy one or more of the American conspiracy theories on moonlandings, 911, JFK/RFK/Martin Luther King, Lahaina, Jan 6, and vice versa. Many smart people disagree on race, abortion, religion, gender, politics to the point where they wouldn't even spend time with someone who had a different opinion. Why is it that each of us sees our own position as valid and correct and ignores (often refuses to consider) or shuns the positions of others? Why can't everyone see that I'm always right?
I would guess that the further they got into it, the angrier they became. No one likes having their apple carts upset, and they are the most angry at the one who did the upsetting.
Or they've simply marked your address as spam and never even saw it. :-)
