Five years into the scamdead dick (siri’s characterization, not mine) and we’re still allowing Pfizer and Moderna to dictate public policy on vaccines and healthcare. RFK Jr was almost not confirmed because he wouldn’t stand up to big Pharma, and some of his colleagues were not approved for the same reason. Not a single investigation, not a single person under indictment not a single grand jury not a single Fauci convicted. Nada. Hard to see how this turns into something moving in the right direction.
As I wrote in an oped years ago the fact that Amgen was senator Chuck Grassley‘s biggest political contributor then shows that even in Iowa there is a Pharma economy, not a farm economy. Decades later, Grassley is still in the Senate and fondly remembering his Pharma buddies over the decades. It didn’t take a rocket scientist or brain surgeon at Amgen to figure out that contributing a few tens of $millions to the political process in DC was a hell of a lot cheaper than spending $1 billion to develop a new drug. Big Pharma has been actively torpedoing regulatory oversight to the point where the FDA is simply a Waterboy for big Pharma. The weekly mRNA VAXes, that big Pharma is lobbying Trump to prevent all the cancers that they’ve caused with their earlier and RNA VAXes will be the cherry on top of the Sundae. Something that we economist called regulatory capture (see George Stiegler’s 1982 Nobel prize in economics). The worst single policy mistake ever made was allowing direct to consumer drug advertising. It gave Pfizer and Moderna and the other big Pharma company 75% control over the media revenue stream both for social media and mainstream media as well as their academic lackies. Gradually and then completely big Pharma gained control of all medical science and all public health communications. The question is whether this dark age epoch will last as long as the last middle ages.
