How symbolic that so many Israelis who died in the Hamas attack were at a rave. What a contrast with the life that the Palestinians in Gaza lead! They are about three tiers down the Maslow triangle, simply scrambling to get enough to eat. They would never conceive of something like a rave. And yet they reproduce. There are more and more Palestinians every year. Contrast that with the Israelis who go to raves for the music, perhaps drugs and carefree sex, but generally not with the idea of starting families.
To further educate myself, I asked what a rave is. That led me to this rather useful article on the history of raves. It is a bit sanitized, but one can read between the lines. The chief attribute is electronic dance music. I had not heard the term EDM before.
A rave, I read, is different from the club scene and it is less formal – you don't get dressed up as much. It is probably cheaper. The events are one-off and bigger.
The article says, rather cautiously, that raves have been associated with drugs and that's the reason the governments don't like them. My guess is that the association is fairly strong. A rave is for people who want to go and shake their bodies and drug themselves at least on music, and quite likely on alcohol and marijuana and other substances. The modern version of the 1960s’ Woodstock or Altamont. Like the people who went to the Fillmore Auditorium, which I avoided when I lived in the Haight in the ‘60s because I wanted to keep my hearing. It is certainly not the intended for young Jewish people who are interested in starting families. I doubt the ultra-Orthodox are represented among the rave crowd.

Quite predictably, there are Jewish writers such as Jonathan Cook who claim that the Israelis have been abusing the Palestinians for generations. Celia Farber also weighs in on that question. Like many liberal Jews, she suspects that the hardline Netanyahu allowed this situation to develop for his own political reasons. Quite a few writers have expressed sympathy for Hamas or, like conservative commentator Taki, been equivocal. Others such as Alex Berenson and Naomi Wolf have expressed quite appropriate horror at the atrocities but chosen not to dwell on the issue. In the Jewish press there are always voices on both sides of the issue.
My guess is that the people who attend the rave are socially liberal and probably include people who would have sympathized with the Palestinians. People who are anti-establishment and do not like Bibby Netanyahu.
It may have been counterproductive for the Palestinians massacre young people who would not be doing much to raise another generation of Jews and who may have been sympathetic to the Palestinians.

On the Ukraine front, Mike Whitney, who until February was about as pro-Russian as they get but has since been rather quite, had a useful interview with Riley Waggeman, AKA Edward Slavsquat, about Russian society. Since Slavsquat lives in Moscow he can hardly afford to criticize the war. He does, however, rather freely criticize Russia’s public health, banking and surveillance systems. Certainly does not make Russia look like much of an alternative to the west, much less an attractive one.

Below is the useful advice I got from Amazon after I submitted my review of The Global Currency Plot. Though they don’t name it, I can only assume that’s the post they objected to. Why is anybody’s guess. Following the link to their guidance provides nothing useful. We truly do live in a social-credit, surveillance state, when they threaten “Please consider this a first warning.” In other words, “No more badthink from you, bad boy, or you are excommunicated.” Thanks, Bob Dylan “Look out kid, it’s something you did. God knows when but you’re doing it again.”

I am letting myself be intimidated. I’m not going to submit even my tamed-down review of “The War on Whites.” If, after fifty years, my co-ethnics have not figured out the game it may not be worth my while to attempt to educate them.
In the Social Justice connection, subscriber Hardee Ho sent a link to this article from Substack poster Barsroom, which in turn linked to this extensive piece from Bloomberg entitled Corporate America Promised to Hire a Lot More People of Color. It Actually Did. The year after Black Lives Matter protests, the S&P 100 added more than 300,000 jobs — 94% went to people of color.
I’m pleased to note that the Barsroom piece includes the advice that a young white man consider emigrating. The obstacles, he notes, are significant. They include language, family and the flexibility demanded of a person adapting to a new culture. On the other hand, these were exactly the constraints that all of our immigrant ancestors overcame to move to the New World. Are we made of the same stuff as they? Get up the gumption and go!
Hardee attached this link as well to another article contending that the 94% headline statistic, is misleading. It appears to be a percentage change, not the absolute number. This article states that whereas whites make up 53.37% of the workforce, they are only 45.54% of the new hires. Also not so wonderful, but reasonable considering the percentage of whites in the cohorts coming of working age. We are not having kids, and we are having lots and lots of young immigrants.
The bottom line remains that whites are sinking below 50% in most categories and are suffering DEI-inspired discrimination at every turn. Though I hope somebody turns it around, don’t look to me for help. I had the game figured out when I retired 26 and emigrated 17 years ago. I’ve placed my bets elsewhere.

That’s the news from Lake WeBeGone, truly an island of tranquility despite whatever tragedies are swirling around our periphery. Someday, when the multitudinous Ponzi schemes collapse like a row of dominos, I may even say a prayer of thanks for the Washington swamp creatures who forestalled the inevitable for long enough that the children have enjoyed a blissful first few years.
It is noteworthy that Hamas attacked areas in Southern Israel that are heavily leftwing, which in Israeli politics equates with sympathising with the Palestinians and believing in compromise and concessions with them. In terms of uniting Israel against them, Hamas couldn't have chosen a more effective method.
Hamas has managed to united secular, drug taking rave dance fans with Orthodox, traditional Torah believers. I think that they may come to regret this.
I'm not a huge raver, but have been in adjacent social scenes, and can confirm that drug use is a large part of rave culture. Probably MDMA is the most closely associated drug, but also ketamine, nitrous oxide, LSD (&c) are popular. Listening to music on MDMA surrounded by a large group of people is a quasi-religious experience.
