Way back 60 years ago or so, before LBJ's Great Society and the Democratic welfare state wrecked the black family and the black community - and "urban renewal" had a huge part in that as well, by bulldozing stable black communities and giving the people whose property was taken by eminent domain insufficient amounts to go out and buy new houses - or any houses at all - turning them into a permanent renter class. They were, to a great proportion, turned into a dependent population and infantilized. And, of course, infants are not responsible and make messes of things. And at least three generations of black males (to a great extent) have never had the discipline meted out by black fathers and strong black role models to make black male children into adults, because the nice lady at the welfare office informed black mothers that if they had a husband in the house who was employed, they'd lose welfare and medicaid benefits, so the response was the husband was sidelined. I know of actual cases of this, it was deliberate bureaucratic action, taken to ensure generations of "clients" - and all bureaucracies seek clients, because clients mean money, and money means power. A black culture of irresponsibility has been created, and now people - black people - are beginning to rebel against it, and grow up into actual adults, so there's that...

What they wanted was a safe place to live in - and there was *no* street crime there if you were from the hood, used good manners, and acted in accordance with the rules - and street criminals who transgressed were dealt with by the Crips, not the police, thus it was safer for me to walk through that neighborhood at 2am, than to do the same past Frat Row. They also wanted good schools that would train their children to get good jobs by which they could get a living - their values in this respect weren't much different from my grandmother's - and she was born in 1892. And I could go on...

Possibly you were generalizing a bit Graham. . . On Fox, Both The Five, and Jesse Walters Prime Time Now showed that video from Cin-sity. On Jesse's show, continuous looping it while pundits talked; sickening. Anyway, just saying. I am sure MSNBC did not even mention the story.
