Well, . . . I'm all finished with speculating. The only thing the mercurial Mr. Trump never disappoints at is being unpredictable. I suspect we'll be having quite the conversation on Friday evening.
Trump has cards yet not in play. Wonder if Putin is even aware of the awful poor progress of Russia in Ukraine. Hard to know if the grind of the war will even allow Russia much more.
Still my hope is Putin sticking to impossible demands angering Trump. We shall see.
Looks like I'm right so far. No cease-fire, just Putin's mealy-mouthed sucking up. Trump says that no deal is exactly that - no deal. The ball is in his court. I do not think it is TACO time. I expect that the sanctions pressure will continue and arms will continue to flow to Ukraine, in particular the long range weapons that are so effectively knocking out Russian logistics and petroleum exports.
Simple logic, fire doesn’t melt steel, and certainly not catastrophically, symmetrically in three seconds. Only three steel frame buildings, in world history have collapsed from an Office fire —buildings 1, 2 and seven on 911.
I’m with Jake Broe, Donald Trump was fooled by a fake Gorbachov in the 80s and he was fooled by a fake Putin last week. Trump will do anything to get peoples eyes off him burning Epstein files. Including selling out, Ukraine, or his own mother.
The tempo is picking up. Zelensky in Washington this week. I am disappointed by the outcome of Alaska, but there is more to come, soon. Too early for me to write an epataph.
We have seen other very successful guys in their time, men of great power, fall into oblivion and harshly judged by posterity.
Lasting success is not bullying, threatening the weaker and appeasing the strong, supporting criminals like Netanyahu and liberating thugs like those of the Capitol putch.
Anyway, tomorrow we'll see his "art of deal" put into practice on the political stage.
His skills acquired in the luxury real estate business might not be quite enough...
Let's wait and see. He has said that his intent today is mainly to listen. I do not expect that he will hear Putin say the fighting will stop. If so, the next moves will be up to Trump, in the coming days.

Unpredictable is part of the art of the deal. It has so often succeeded. I await the conversation.
Great commentary.

Comments are insightful too.
Not really from Trump sycophants.
The Guardian could certainly never have been counted among Trump sycophants. I'm willing to see what happens.

Still waiting for the 911 files

Trump, a dream client for Putin for tomorrow's negotiations.
A simplistic mind without education.
No doubt unable to situate most countries on a map.
With the vocabulary and concepts of an 8 year child which should shame all normal Americans.
Great admirer of violent, "tough guy like" dictators and bullies.
Pathologically susceptible to flatteries.
What is well understood by Putin.
I expect the worst outcome for poor Ukraine tomorrow.
He is incredibly successful for a guy with such a sad curriculum vitae.
