“Report From Ukraine”
This video has a very detailed account of what is taking place on the Right Bank of the Dnieper River, where approximately 25,000 Russian troops are trapped. Natalia Gumenyuk, Press Officer for the Southern Command has confirmed that some Russian soldiers are trying to arrange a surrender. Meanwhile, there are reports that Russian forces have moved up to the Left Bank of the Dnieper. Apparently, their mission is to block trapped Russians from fleeing across the river, either by boat or swimming. For those of you who are students of the Battle of Stalingrad (now Volgograd), the Soviet Army did largely the same thing during the fighting. Soviet soldiers trying to escape fighting inside the City of Stalingrad by crossing the Volga River, were shot by Soviet soldiers under the command of Nikita Khrushchev, who became General Secretary of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union. At Stalingrad, Khrushchev served as a political commissar.
The Latest Denys
Denys mostly covers the Ukrainian offensives in the Kharkiv Region, covering possible options for future attacks. I think the most likely is Lyman followed by Lysychansk and Sievierodonetsk, the latter two cities lost by Ukraine in July. What is somewhat surprising is a possible Ukrainian offensive southwest of Donetsk City, launched from the town of Marinka. Denys said that he got this information from Russian sources, who referred to it as a “massive counterattack.”
