“Thanking Ukrainians”/Timothy Snyder via Substack
This is a 16-minute podcast listing 10 reasons why Americans should thank Ukrainians. There has been a lot of discussion recently about Ukrainians are not grateful enough for American assistance. What resonated with me the most were the 7th through the and 10th reasons:
· Thanking Ukrainians for their willingness to talk about freedom;
· Thanking Ukrainians for their courage;
· Thanking Ukrainians for their search for truth, especially the journalists and writers who have been covering the war;
· Thanking Ukrainians for giving Americans the chance to be on the right side;
Regarding the 10th, there are too many members of the U.S. Congress, and a few Republican Presidential candidates, who want to snatch away what Ukrainians are giving us, namely a chance to be on the right side, by opposing our support for Ukraine, and in at least 1 case, advocating making up to the Russian Federation. They should all be ashamed of themselves.
“Ukrainian Tactics Put Russia on the Defensive in the Black Sea”/Wall Street Journal
For regular readers, you know that I am big on maps. The article has one very good map.
We have covered much of this in recent emails, but here are a few excerpts.
· “Vice Admiral Neizhpapa, commander of the Ukrainian Navy, said that Ukraine has no intention to interfere with civilian shipping in the Black Sea. He added, however, that the 1994 San Remo agreement on international law pertaining to naval warfare allows his forces to target commercial vessels that are viewed as assisting the Russian military effort or that are escorted by military ships or aircraft: “Those are fully legitimate targets.” “
· “Russia is in a uniquely vulnerable position in the Black Sea. Though a major naval power, it can’t replenish its losses there with vessels from its other fleets because Turkey, which controls the straits between the Black Sea and the Mediterranean, barred transit for belligerent warships in February 2022, implementing the 1936 Montreux Convention on the status of the straits.”
· “Currently, an area of some 9,650 square miles, bigger than New Jersey, in the northwestern Black Sea has become a no-man’s-land, where—apart from civilian vessels—only speedy craft that are too small to be targeted by missiles dare to venture, Neizhpapa said.”
· “The Neptune, the missile that sank the “Moskva,” is an indigenous Ukrainian missile that was supposed to complete pre-deployment testing as the war began. “We tested them on the real targets instead,” Neizhpapa quipped. Initially, Ukraine targeted a Russian frigate, Admiral Essen, but that ship’s electronic-warfare systems interfered with the missiles and the frigate sustained only minor damage, with some sailors injured, he said. “Despite that, Russia still didn’t really believe that we have real missile weapons and kept trying to dominate our areas,” sending the Moskva into the kill zone shortly thereafter, he added.”
Neptune has been modified to hit land targets as well as ships. It was used recently in an attack on a Russian S-400 antiaircraft missile installation near Evpatoria, in western Crimea. The Neptune has a range greater than that of the U.S. ATACMS, that the U.S. is apparently afraid will provoke Russia.
I have two comments about the WSJ article. The article stated, “Russia retains air superiority over the northwestern Black Sea.” I no longer believe that is the case.
The second comment is that the WSJ should have included Ukraine’s riverine force as part of the Navy and in the article. The riverine force is largely responsible for clearing the Dnipro Delta, to the point where Ukraine might be able to launch another incursion into the portion of Kherson Oblast located in the Left Bank. They are also responsible for liberating the Kinburn Spit, that would open up the Port of Mykolaiv for grain exports.
News From the Battlefield
Both “Reporting From Ukraine” and the “Latest Denys” cover the Ukrainian move toward Verbove, possibly opening a major breach in the Russian 2nd defense line. The Latest Denys contains a very good map showing the situation near Verbove.
Pres. Zelenskyy has hinted that Ukraine may soon launch a major attack. At 2:30 into his video, “Reporting from Ukraine” reports on Ukraine’s introduction of 3 additional brigades into Ukraine’s expanding bridgehead near Robotyne. Perhaps this what Zelenskyy was referring to. We’ll see.

Those puppet masters would be the globalist, deep state, military industrial complex, technocrat, uniparty types looking to install a Chinese Communist Party type command and control one world government on us kulacks.
