Interview With a Captured Russian Conscript
Members of the Ukrainian media are being allowed to interview captured Russian soldiers, subject to permission of the soldiers. Recently there was one interview of a soldier, one of the recent conscripts. He said he had no idea why Russian soldiers were in Ukraine.
He was allowed to call his mother, after having not been able to speak with her since his induction. His mother refused to speak with her son, and she called the Ukrainian interviewer a Nazi. The captured Russian soldier is in his early 30s.
News From The Battlefield
There is no “Latest Denys” today. I hope that it’s only because of a power outage.
“Reporting From Ukraine” continues to focus on the East, where he reports that Ukraine has cut the Svatove – Kremmina Road in several places stopping Russian re-supply to Kremmina.
He has also begun covering southern Donetsk & Zaporizhzhia Oblasts, the area where the next Ukrainian offensive might take place. If successful, it would cut off the “land bridge” between Crimea and Rostov and perhaps set the stage for the liberation of Mariupol, Berdyansk and Melitopol.
He also provided a detailed map of yesterday’s Russian missile strikes against Ukrainian infrastructure, especially hydroelectric facilities. He says that the targets were substations, but not the dams.
Ukraine’s Navy
Putin has said that he would return to the grain deal, if Ukraine agreed to guarantee the protection of what remains of the Russian Black Sea Fleet. This is an extraordinary request for Putin to make, as it acknowledges Ukraine’s naval victory in the Black Sea. Ukraine must be the first country in history to achieve such a naval victory, without having a Navy.
11/1 Sitrep (my comments in bold face)
“Although the Russians say nothing happened to their Black Sea Fleet, from 5 cruise missile launch ships in August, to one today.”
