Latest Denys
What is most interesting about Denys’ latest report is what he has chosen not to confirm – rumored Ukrainian counterattacks toward Kherson and Melitopol. If true, and if these counterattacks are successful, they could:
· Return control to Ukraine of 2 of the most strategic cities in southern Ukraine, Kherson & Melitopol.
· It would threaten to cut off Russian forces located on the right bank of the Dnieper River, the only Russian presence on the right bank of the Dnieper anywhere in Ukraine.
· It would threaten Russian forces located in and around Europe’s largest nuclear power complex, in Enerhodar, south of Zaporizhzhia and northeast of Kherson.
Since last May, Denys has also noticed a decline in visits to his YouTube site. He hopes that this is not an indication of “Ukraine Fatigue” from his mostly Western audience.
Bombing of Snake Island
This report states that within the last day or two Snake Island, a small island in the Northwest Black Sea belonging to Ukraine but now temporarily occupied by Russia, has come under intense Ukrainian bombing attacks. The Russian seagoing tug, recently sunk by 2 Harpoon missiles, was carrying ammunition to Snake Island. Snake Island would have to be neutralized, as part of any plan to re-open Ukraine’s ports.

● On 17 June 2022, Ukrainian forces claimed their first successful use of Western-donated Harpoon anti-ship missiles to engage Russian maritime forces. The target of the attack was almost certainly the Russian naval tug Spasatel Vasily Bekh, which was delivering weapons and personnel to Zmiinnyi Island in the north-western Black Sea.
● The destruction of the Russian vessel on a resupply mission demonstrates the difficulty Russia faces when attempting to support their forces occupying Zmiinnyi Island.
● Ukrainian coastal defence capability has largely neutralised Russia's ability to establish sea control and project maritime force in the north-western Black Sea. In units withdrawn to restore combat readiness from the regions of Kherson, Mykolaiv and Popasna.
Prosecutor General of Ukraine: Filed a suspicion charge against the ex-mayor of Kyiv, Leonid Chernovetskyi, for encroaching on the territorial integrity of Ukraine. Suspicion is put forward because on February 25, Chernovetskyi posted a publication on his Facebook page "about the possibility and even the need to recognize" the so-called "DPR" and "LPR.” When he was Mayor of Kyiv, because of his often-bizarre behavior Chernovetskyi became known as “Mayor Cosmos.” If it wasn’t for the fact that Chernovetskyi was the Mayor of Ukraine’s Capital and largest city, his Wikipedia Page would make for highly amusing reading. Chernovetskyi’s wife often used to drive her McLaren Mercedes to lunch at Restaurant Porto in Kyiv, followed her security detail traveling in 2 or sometimes 3 SUVs with tinted windows. Porto was located just under my office window, so I was afforded a front-row seat for her arrival and departure (usually 2-3 hours after arriving). I once asked a colleague why he thought it made sense to own a McLaren Mercedes, a car capable of top speeds of over 200MPH, in Central Kyiv. His answer was, “because she’s married to the Mayor, she can drive that fast anywhere she wants, including on Kreschatik (main street of Kyiv).”
Deputy Minister of Education: Russian literature containing "the suffering of the Russian soul" is difficult for Ukrainians to perceive, so it should be excluded from the curriculum of Ukrainian schools and universities. But Atroshenko did not get there, and the ceremony was held without him. Atroshenko said that he attributed this to a political attack on him by one of the employees of the Office of the President, who acts through the head of the Regional Military Administration, Chaus.

● Counterintelligence of the Security Service prevented a series of large-scale sabotage of the railway by detaining a Russian agent during a special operation in Chernivtsi. Chernivtsi is located in southwest Ukraine, near the Romanian border. It is likely one of many entry points for Western weapons shipments. I have been to Chernivtsi. It is a very nice and interesting city where, before WW-II, there were 12 Jewish synagogues. The old palace of the Orthodox Metropolitan of Chernivtsi, now part of the local university, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Chernivtsi is also a center for theater and movies. Stars who were born or performed in Chernivtsi are commemorated in a manner similar to the Hollywood Walk of Fame, on Hollywood Boulevard in Los Angeles. I was told that 25% of Chernivtsi residents have Romanian passports, where the requirement is that you prove that you have 1 Romanian grandparent (similar in Hungary and Poland).
● Arrested Russian spies in the Cabinet of Ministers and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Ukraine. To expose it, the counterintelligence of the SSU conducted a multi-stage special operation.
