A U.S. Senate Delegation Visits Kyiv
The delegation was in Kyiv late last week, and they met with Pres. Zelenskyy and other Ukrainian Government officials. The delegation included Sens. Lindsay Graham (Republican – South Carolina), Sheldon Whitehouse (Democrat – Rhode Island), and Richard Blumenthal (Democrat – Connecticut). Coverage of their visit was drowned out on the Sunday political talk shows, likely because of coverage of the Biden Classified Document Scandal and the Tragic incident last Saturday night in Monterey Park, Ca., so I will gladly give the Senators their due, and I’ll include it here. A video of the senators’ press conference is included in the link. It was held in front of St. Michael’s Cathedral in Kyiv, and next to Queen Olga (now duly protected with sandbags). Behind the senators, one can see the barrel of a destroyed Russian tank. What is newsworthy is the senators’ use of the word “Victory.” We’d like to see increased use of this word by members of the Biden Administration, especially by Gen. Mark Milley, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
Chancellor Olaf Scholz – Early Career
Wikipedia describes the early career of German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, as follows, “Scholz joined the German Social Democratic Party (SPD) in 1975 as a student, where he got involved with the “Jusos,” the youth organization of the SPD. From 1982 to 1988, he was Deputy Federal Juso Chairman, and from 1987 to 1989 also Vice President of the International Union of Socialist Youth. He supported the Freudenberger Kreis, the Marxist wing of the Juso university groups, promoting "overcoming the capitalist economy" in various articles. In it, Scholz criticized the "aggressive-imperialist NATO, the Federal Republic (former West Germany) as the "European stronghold of big business" and the social-liberal coalition, which puts the "bare maintenance of power above any form of substantive dispute". On 4 January 1984, Scholz and other Juso leaders met in the German Democratic Republic (East Germany) with Egon Krenz, the secretary of the Central Committee of the Socialist Unity Party of Germany (SED) and member of the Politburo of the SED-Central Committee, Herbert Häber. Krenz later became the last Leader of the former East Germany, at the time of the fall of the Berlin Wall. In 1987, Scholz crossed the inner German border again and stood up for disarmament agreements as Juso-Vice at a Free German Youth (FDJ) peace rally in Wittenberg.”
A recent Twitter post alleges that Scholz visited the former East Germany 9 times, “with special privileges.”
It is worth asking - what kind of “Kompromat” does the Russian SVR (Russian Foreign Intelligence Service) and/or the GRU have on Chancellor Scholz who, as Chancellor, makes the final decision on the release of German weapons to Ukraine and, in addition he has the authority to withhold permission for other countries to release German-made equipment to Ukraine?
Former East German and Former Soviet Penetration of the Former West Germany
One of the recipients of these emails worked in the former West Germany for the CIA, and he was involved in the CIA’s acquisition of the Rosenholz Files. There is no information that Olaf Scholz’s name was included in the Rosenholz Files. My recipient was kind enough to share his thoughts.
In addition to his involvement in acquiring the Rozenholz Files, my recipient’s experience in the former West Germany included, in his words, “late in my career I had a great deal of intensive experience working with the BfV, the West German internal security service. I personally made happen the effective handling of HvA materials which lead to the uncovering of hundreds of West Germans working for the HvA. (East German service—Markus Wolf). That work has entered into the public domain as “ROSENHOLZ.” In addition, I ran the Hqs end of several operations which lead to very important KGB operations against West Germany, including the identification of some real big shot’s secretary.”
Based on his career in the CIA my recipient provided the following observation and advice -
“Two things came out of that (his experience): A. Between the HvA (“Main Directorate for Reconnaissance”, the primary foreign intelligence agency of the former East Germany) and the KGB (now the Russian FSB) the commies had the West Germans penetrated everywhere; B. We did not”get” all the spies. You never do.”
“Re today: Even with the passage of many years, there have to be some remaining sources and assets (even second generation) from the HvA operations now being run by the Russians and, as we in New England say, “As sure as God made little apples,” the SVR have plenty (to say nothing of the GRU) of assets in Germany.”
“Thus, now would be a very good time for someone to be watching systematically and very closely the stands, however subtle, of politicians and media outlets and media mouths on this issue. The Leopards must be a topical issue of considerable importance to the Russians; and the SVR must be under great pressure to get their influence assets to help. I doubt very much the BfV would dare do anything like that.”
News From the Battlefield
“Reporting From Ukraine” describes continuing encounters in the South, this time on an island in the Dnieper River adjacent to Kherson City. He also says the following:
· He confirms what has been reported elsewhere, that large numbers of Russian wounded are going to hospitals in Khahovka and other cities in Southern Ukraine.
· Unlike what has been reported elsewhere, including in much of the Western media that often seems only too ready to describe Russian successes, that there is no major Russian offensive in the South. Several Russian incursions have been stopped by Ukrainian forces.
Denys, in his latest, doesn’t think that there will be a Russian offensive in the spring, and he gives his reasons why. He also describes some recent instances of corrupt activity, including a video describing a “gift” made to the girlfriend of the Chief of the Lv’iv Police Department, from the Chief himself. It will be interesting to see the Government’s reaction.

Back in the 1980s, we called the Greens the Watermelon Party - green on the outside, red on the inside... Of note is this bit from Dugin on the "Moscow-Berlin Axis":
"According to Dugin, as a result of a grand alliance to be concluded between Russia and Germany, the two countries will divide up into spheres of influence all the territories lying between them, with no “sanitary cordon.” Dugin proposes that Germany be offered political dominance over most Protestant and Catholic states located within Central and Eastern Europe and that Kaliningrad be returned to Germany as part of this bargain. The “unstable” state of Finland, which “historically enters into the geopolitical space of Russia,” is seen as an exception. Poland, Latvia, and Lithuania are also to be allocated to the Russian-Eurasian sphere of dominance, as is “the north of the Balkan peninsula from Serbia to Bulgaria,” which is described as part of the “Russian South.”
At one point in his textbook, Dugin confides that all arrangements with “the Eurasian bloc of the continental West,” headed by Germany, will be merely temporary and provisional in nature. “The maximum task [for the future],” he underscores, “is the ‘Finlandization’ of all of Europe.”
As for the former Soviet Union republics situated within Europe, all—with the single exception of Estonia—are to be absorbed by Eurasia-Russia. Belarus, Dugin pronounces, “should be seen as part of Russia.” In a similar vein, Moldova is assigned to what Dugin terms the “Russian South.” On Ukraine, Dugin stipulates that, with the exception of its three westernmost regions—Volhynia, Galicia, and Transcarpathia—Ukraine, like Belarus, constitutes an integral part of Russia-Eurasia." https://www.hoover.org/research/russias-new-and-frightening-ism
I wonder if Putin and Scholz have signed a secret "non-aggression treaty" - it won't be the first time Germany has done this. And perhaps the Poles have some sort of suspicion as well...
